Acer may have wowed the world with the Aspire S7 when it was revealed as the first Windows 8 touchscreen Ultrabook a couple of days ago, but Asus has taken that design one step further and produced this: the world’s first convertible touchscreen Ultrabook with Windows 8, called the Asus Transformer Book.
As you can probably tell, the Transformer Book is indeed a full-on Asus Ultrabook, only its screen can be taken off completely and used as a stand-alone tablet computer. The Asus Transformer Book will come in 11.6-inch, 13-inch, and 14-inch variants, and will run on 3rd-gen Intel Core i7, Core i5, or Core i3 processors. The screens will use IPS panels and support Full HD resolution as standard.
Other features include 4GB of RAM, graphics from NVIDIA, and USB 3.0. The Asus Transformer Book comes with a detachable keyboard from which the display can be removed whenever you like with the simple toggle of a switch. If the power and mobility of the likes of the Asus Tablet 810 or Tablet 600 are not enough, then perhaps this is the new transforming computer that you are looking for. You’ll have to wait for its official release some time later this year to get your hands on it, though.
